During research for a motor racing film, Jay painted pictures of a Maserati 250F and a Cooper Climax imagined as fish. He was encouraged to do a series by Eion Young, (who sent the 250F picture to Chris Amon),and by others.
2020 Covid lockdowns finally provided an opportunity and this book is the result.
Readers will readily guess the age of the author and perhaps recognise that he grew up in NZ and,like so many here,was fascinated by the cars and hero worshipped the drivers of the era;no more so than Jim Clark whose triumphant Team Lotus visits to the Tasman Series were so very impressive.
( These performances were also very encouraging for speed loving farmers‘ sons everywhere as were those of C.Amon -who,reportedly, had also learned early drifting skills on winter paddocks. )

He was described in the John Clarke introduction to “Famous Fish of WW2 “, the first book in this popular series, as “ a boy of about 60 ”
Jay is a former lawyer and film producer and long time cartoonist and doodler. He lives in New Zealand and, so,near water. Happily, these pictures and books have led to commissions which have allowed many fine memories to get in some more good laps.
